Ambassador Mrs. Amaka Judith Nweke JP

Biographical Overview


Ambassador Mrs. Amaka Judith Nweke JP is a distinguished humanitarian, advocate for women’s rights and social justice, and a passionate champion of community development. Born in Sokoto State, Nigeria, she is the first child of six to her parents, the late Elder Joseph Nweke and Mrs. Patricia Nweke. She is married to Engr. Chidi Nweke, and they have four lovely children.

Education and Career

Academic Background: Ambassador Nweke holds a Bachelors Degree Honours degree in Pure and Industrial Chemistry from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. She also possesses a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling at the National Open University, Enugu Study Centre. Currently, she is a PHD. student.
Professional Experience: She began her career as a marketer with Greater Life Pharmaceuticals in 2012. In 2018, she joined the Global Society for Anti-Corruption, where she discovered her passion for humanitarian service. Currently, she serves as Commissioner IV at the Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, overseeing the affairs of all 17 local government staff across the state ¹.

Advocacy and Community Development

Water and Sanitation: Ambassador Nweke is a renowned advocate for water rights and sanitation. She has led initiatives to promote access to clean water and sanitation for all, collaborating with Ministries of Water Resources and Health.She served as the coordinator of Network of Water Rights Initiative and also a member of the Network’s board
Women’s Empowerment: She is the founder of the Anambra Women General Assembly and Women Support Women Community Network, platforms dedicated to mentoring, empowering, and building women and girls for development. She is a gender expert and also advocates for women inclusion across boards.
Anti-Corruption and Youth Development: Ambassador Nweke has organized programs against corruption, drug abuse, and human trafficking, targeting youth and community leaders.


Amb. Amaka Nweke is a peace advocate who earns her prestigious UN-POLAC Global Peace Award Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Distinguished Woman of Peace Award and Honour category by the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) in 2025.

Leadership and Public Service

– Commissioner IV, Enugu State Local Government Service Commission: Ambassador Nweke currently oversees the affairs of all 17 local government staff across Enugu State.
– Executive Assistant: She previously served as an executive assistant to the former local government chairman of Enugu East, assisting in program planning and execution.
– Panel of Inquiry: Ambassador Nweke was a member and secretary of the panel of inquiry into the Accounts, Management Practices, and Staff Conduct at IMT Enugu and the Implementation Committee in IMT.
